Our Impact.
Eagle Academy PCS
While John was at Eagle Academy, the school doubled its state and federal grants including a US Department of Education Charter School Replication and Expansion Grant worth nearly $1,000,000. Only 12 other independent Local Education Agencies around the country were awarded this grant in 2017. When John left, Eagle Academy was one of the most revenue diversified public charter schools in Washington, D.C. with at least 25% of its revenue coming from sources other than its per pupil allocation.
Cassandra S. Pinkney Foundation
To support Eagle Academy’s mission, John launched the Cassandra S. Pinkney Foundation. The Foundation became the individual philanthropic arm of Eagle Academy and provided grants and scholarships to the school, students, teachers, and community members looking to Make Space for Opportunity. In its first year, the Foundation was fortunate enough to send seven third grade students to a STEM summer camp. In its second year, it continued this commitment and pledge to provide every graduating 3rd grade student an iPad upon completion so that they could continue their STEM learning beyond Eagle Academy.
